Magic Winter Gardens

Cold clear blue sky and a perfect day to wander around the Botanic Gardens with a sketchbook and camera and clear the mind. I need to draw again and the winter landscape provides a strangely beautiful source. Skeletal plants – black, brown and ghostly white create tangled shapes. Freezing fingers.

It is like an oasis in the centre of the city.

Warmed up by going to see a really magical exhibition “Invented Acoustical Tools” by Tony Conrad in Inverleith House.

Sculpture and music. Here’s the suspended chair I sat in and plucked at the wire strings holding it to make bass tones. The attendant handed me a violin bow and I made more noise… sound…. something. Magic!
